TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Arkansas teaching license for the grade level or subject area assigned Sports Medicine 625
2. Licensed in Arkansas to practice as an Athletic Trainer Physical Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant.
3. Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology or Exercise Physiology/Science.
4. Pass all required criminal background checks Arkansas State Police FBI and Central Registry check
at personal expense $49.75.
5. Meet Highly Qualified Teacher designation requirements if applicable to the teaching
assignment.
6. Ability to perform duties while following district policies as well as state and federal regulations
guidelines and laws.
7. Ability to read analyze and interpret printed instructions professional journals
handbooks bulletins announcements etc.
8. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and workcooperatively with students peers and parents.
9. Ability to follow written and verbal directions or instructions.
10. Demonstrate skill in written and oral communication which could include effectivelypresenting information and
responding to questions from groups of studentsadministrators staff and the general public.
11. Demonstrate adequate computer skills including Internet research data entry grade reports etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness sports medicine injury prevention injury treatment
rehabilitation practices and psychosocial aspects of sports medicine utilizing course of study provided by
the Arkansas Career and Technical Education Department and other appropriate learning activities.
8. Make modifications for G/T ELL LD physically impaired atrisk and other needs of
individual students including their learning styles.
9. Collaborate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals objectivesand methods.
Assist in the selection of learning materials equipment or otherinstructional material.
10. Develop and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to effective
learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
11. Maintain accurate complete records as required by district policy or law.
12. Be responsible for supervising the proper use of learning materials equipment or other
instructional material.
13. Be available to students and parents for education related purposes during theinstructional day
and extended hours when necessary.
14. Take reasonable measures to maintain a safe and orderly environment to protectstudents
equipment materials and facilities.
15. Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct. Develop reasonable
rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in theclassroom in a fair and just manner.
16. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities.
17. Communicate regularly with various internal and external publics to develop andmaintain a positive
school/community relationship.
18. Support and attend extracurricular activities when possible (i.e. PTA/PTOsporting and cultural events.
19. Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality.
20. Maintain high moral values both in principle and example by following state and locallaws rules
guidelines and standards. Strictly follow the Arkansas Code of Ethics forEducators.
21. Maintain and improve professional competence.
22. Follow and implement all district policies as well as state and federal lawor guidelines.
23. Accept and respond to supervision.
24. Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. The employee may occasionally push or lift 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus. This position required the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
