QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts Licensure in English as a Second Language Required
- Bachelors Degree Masters Degree Preferred
REPORTS TO:Building Principal and Director of Multilingual Learners
JOB GOAL:Responsible for teaching language development curriculum to English Language Learners at varied stages of language acquisition.
PERFORMANCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct students in ESL classes.
- Assist general and special education teachers with lesson planning and curriculum development for Multilingual Learners.
- Administer annual ACCESS testing to students and assess new students enrolling in the high school.
- Complete and maintain all required district and state paperwork related to Multilingual Learners.
- Plan prepare and deliver instructional activities.
- Create positive educational climate for students.
- Meet course and schoolwide student performance goals.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
- Maintain grade books.
- Utilize various curriculum resources.
- Integrate competencies goals and objectives into lesson plans.
- Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Prepare and distribute required reports based on collected data.
- Observe and evaluate student performance.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures
