A DAY IN THE LIFE
As a key member of the team and reporting directly to the Senior Corporate Counsel and Director of Litigation this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
Interpret draft and negotiate commercial contract terms and conditionsin an expeditious mannerto achieve acceptable levels of risk in a highly competitive market environment
Review edit and summarize key terms of commercial contracts
Communicate contract requirements to operations teams and assist with contract compliance questions
Assist senior counsel to facilitate timely responses to subpoenas and other legal process on behalf of the Company
Assist senior counsel in carrying out identified case management trial preparation and strategic goals for litigation matters
Assist senior counsel in conducting internal factual investigation and discovery as needed
Research and analyze the law on complex issues and write concise practical summaries for senior counsel and operational leadership
Able to operate independently and meet tight deadlines
Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations including attendance at all required safety training programs
Participate in Companys continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts
Keep uptodate and current on industry trends by completing formal training reviewing professional publications and attending professional workshops
Perform other duties as assigned by senior counsel
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/or ability required. J.D. and admission to state bar
2 years of relevant experience practicing inhouse or at a law firm including experience 1 reviewing and drafting contracts; 2 navigating civil trial court and/or alternative dispute resolution procedures; and 3 responding to subpoenas and other legal process
Strong academic credentials
Familiarity with legal and contract concepts principles and practices used in the development and drafting of contract documents
Sound and practical business judgment as well as common sense
Strong writing and presentation skills and attention to detail organizational skills and a commitment to quality
Ability to think and act both strategically and proactively
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Solid organization and time management skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently managing multiple responsibilities (i.e. selfstarter selfmotivated)
Ability to communicate effectively with crossfunctional teams and all levels of personnel/management
