Job Description

Early Childhood Mental Health Clinician (F&ECE Clinician)

Head Start

The Opportunity Alliance is looking to add another Early Childhood Mental Health Clinician (F&ECE Clinician) to its Head Start/Early Head Start team.

Early Childhood Mental Health Clinician (F&ECE Clinician) offer Mental Health Services and Support at no cost to families to any families enrolled in TOAs HeadStart and/or Early HeadStart program 3 local Community Based childcare programs and soon to add Family Childcare homes. These services are offered under a Childrens Outpatient License.

Our full time licensed clinical counselors and social workers are fully embedded in the Family Services teams and provide a variety of Mental Health services and consultations. Clinicians are part of Early Childhood Teams and work in concert with teachers special educators family advocates and parents. Mental health clinicians work closely with families and children to identify individual goals and then develop a plan for meeting these goals. Clinicians are also available to provide parenting consultation to families and support to classroom teachers and family visiting staff as well.

Schedule: Salary/exempt. Monday/Friday 84/some occasional evening work

Location: Cumberland County. Most sites in greater Portland however there is one classroom in Bridgton.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in social work counseling or related degree along with 3 yrs experience serving children and families in a social service field required.
  • Maine Licensure at the LMSWCC or LCPC conditional is required.
  • Experience with Play Therapy required. Experience with ParentChild Psychotherapy preferred.
  • Ability to deal with crisis situations while maintaining a calm and calming presence with staff and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborativelyrequired.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings required.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and email is required.
  • Contracts that have Rider D: Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background child protective service check & sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • If residential or ECE employee must be able to pass preemployment physical and TB screen.
  • ECE must be current on MMR and TDAP immunizations
  • Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with occasional standing walking reaching stooping bending kneeling crouching typing and frequently lift and carry small children or material weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings and for the occasional need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clients or driving to the agency location to complete work. A good driving record is required.
