Lewis Central Community School District is looking for a High School Boys Assistant Soccer Coach and a High School Girls Assistant SoccerCoach for the 202425 season. Season run time is approximately MarchJune. Some time is required outside of regular season for program and player development.
Applicant must have a coaching authorization through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners before being considered for this position.
Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Athletic Director and Head Coachan Assistant Coachsprimary responsibilitiesis to lead and develop studentathletes to achieve both individual and team success.
Qualifications:
- Coaching authorization issued by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE) is mandatory.
- Previous coaching experience as asoccercoach at the middle school or high school level is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the rules and strategies related to the specific sport.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the overall wellbeing and development of studentathletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Understanding of and adherence to all relevant safety guidelines.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement effective training programs that focus on skill development teamwork and sportsmanship.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to studentathletes fostering their personal and athletic growth.
- Plan and execute practice sessions ensuring a balance between skill refinement and overall fitness.
- Create and maintain a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes respect discipline and commitment.
- Collaborate with school staff parents and community members to promote a supportive and engaging athletic program.
- Attend and actively participate in scheduled meetings workshops and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all school district and state policies including the rules and regulations set forth by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners Iowa High School Atheltic Association and Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union.
- Communicate effectively with athletes parents and school administration regarding team activities schedules and expectations.
- Encourage academic achievement and emphasize the importance of balancing academics with athletics.
- Attend and support/supervise student athletes atcompetitions games and other related events.
Travel Requirements:
A coach is required to travel with team to all related events and in some instance operate a school vehicle to transport studentathletes to events.
