Job Description
Roanoke City Public Schools is now accepting applications for HighIntensity Tutors for the 202425 school year to work on a temporary basis (parttime no benefits up to 29 total hours per weeek) in elementary and middle schools throughout the division. Individual work assignments will be at one specific school. Work schedules will vary depending on the needs of each individual school.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide highintensity academic tutoring to students in grades 38 that are at risk or not proficient based on statewide assessment results.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Nonlicensed tutors must complete the ALL In Tutoring online training that will be available on the Virginia Department of Education ALL In Tutoring website for school divisions
- Ability to facilitate strong positive relationships with students and understand students learning needs in math and reading
- Incorporate progress monitoring into tutoring sessions in order to track student learning progress
- Possess effective reading writing and computation skills
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills
- Possess the personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students teachers and parents
- Ability to navigate online platforms
- Acceptance of flexible work schedule
- Dependability and punctuality required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold or be eligible to hold a current teaching license in the State of Virginia
PAY RATES:
- $35.00 per hour for individuals without an active teaching license issued by the Virginia Department of Education
- $40.00 per hour for individuals with an active teaching license issued by the Virginia Department of Education
