The person in this position assists in the development and instruction of children enrolled in the Preschool Promise Program. The position also assists in planning and organizing activities to meet the physical emotional and intellectual needs of students. The person in this position provides a nurturing and safe environment for children enrolled in the program. Preschool Promise program staff must attend and participate in state approved professional development and technical assistance activities as deemed necessary and appropriate by the ELD. Staff will engage in ongoing professional learning experiences that include collaborative jobembedded strategies such as coaching mentoring and peer learning groups to develop professional competencies strengthen program quality and improve child outcomes.This position is temporary for theremainder of the 2425 school year and is grantfunded.
The schedule for this temporary positionwill be Monday through Thursday 8 AM 4 PM and Friday 8 AM 1P M.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks and other related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates regular and acceptable attendance and punctuality as set forth in Board policy.
- Assists in the planning implementing and developing learning experiences for students.
- Observing students and assisting in recording student development and progress; informing supervisor of any unusual academic or disciplinary problems.
- Preschool Promise program staff must attend and participate in state approved professional development and technical assistance activities as deemed necessary and appropriate by the ELD. Participation in professional development/technical assistance must ensure all teaching staff and leaders engage in ongoing professional learning experiences that include collaborative jobembedded strategies such as coaching mentoring and peer learning groups to develop professional competencies strengthen program quality and improve child outcomes. A minimum of 20 hours of professional development is required.
- Preschool Promise staff must register with Oregon Registry by 2/1/2021.
- The assistant teacher may also need to need to assist children with toileting.
- Be familiar with and adhere to all relevant Board policies administrative regulations and building rules.
- Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students staff parents and community members and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
- Works independently and cooperatively in teams with other staff members and students.
- Attends staff meetings.

- Maintains open communication with other staff to establish a positive work environment.
- Assists in serving of nutritional meals and snacks each day.
- Helps students develop positive interpersonal relationships with peers and adults; promotes safety of the students by helping them develop selfconfidence.
- Trains and assists students in behavior management; provides education regarding appropriate interpersonal actions; responds to discipline problems; acts as a role model.
- Supervises students on the playground.
- Assists with daily attendance registration bus lists and enrollment records.
- Monitors sign in / sign out lists.
- Evaluates student injuries performs minor first aid in compliance with District Board policies and completes required paperwork in a timely fashion.
- Assists the teacher in the setup and maintenance of the classroom materials and supplies.
- Works with children individually and/or in small group activities.
- Cares supervises and provides support to children in a variety of settings on field trips meal times nap times and ensures their safety and security at all times.
- Maintains attendance records.
- Maintains a safe environment at all times.
- Assists in feeding meal planning snacks and meals.
- Cleans and properly sanitizes toys and floors.
- Assists with toileting.
SUPERVISION
All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Education and/or Experience: An associate degree with additional training or additional certification in early childhood education or a field related to early childhood education as determined by the Division; or Child Development Associate (CDA) Preschool Credential or step level 7 as determined by the Oregon Registry Online (ORO) OR Child Development Associates (CDA) Credential or above Registry Step 7 or above.
- Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to successfully work with young children.
- Language Skills: Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in oneonone small group situations to students and other school staff. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules IFSPs lesson plans data memos emails operating and maintenance instructions procedure manuals and governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute and apply rate ratio and percent to practical situation. Ability to draw and interpret a variety of graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral schedule or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use email internet software word processing software and computer programs used by the District. Ability to type accurately and proficiently.
- Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to appropriately communicate with students teachers parents and members of the community. Ability to exercise good judgment to meet timelines and work in a dynamic environment.
- Certificates Licenses Registrations: Certificates as determined by the District. Ability to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card. Participate in bloodborne pathogen training and blood spill training annually.
