Overview

RiverView Health is a community owned membership based nonprofit organization that was formed in 1898 and continues to be the sole community hospital in Crookston MN.

RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area.

Responsibilities

Substance Use Disorder Peer Support Specialist as a fulltime 80 hours every 2 weeks) .

Schedule: FullTime 1.0 fte) 80 hours per pay period
Recovery Center hours: MondayFriday 8:00 AM 4:30 PM

Pay Range: $17.89 $25.05 (D.O.E dependent upon experience)

Job Status: NonExempt/Hourly benefitted position

The Recovery Peer Support Specialist will provide individualized strengthbased and clientcentered peer support services to individuals in recovery from substance use disorder. Under the supervision of a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor the Recovery Peer will use their lived experience and recovery knowledge to foster hope promote selfsufficiency support clients recovery goals and assist clients in building and maintaining skills gained from other treatment services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Peer Support and Mentorship share personal recovery experiences to build trust inspire hope and model recovery. Offer nonclinical emotional support and encouragement to individuals navigating substance use recovery.
  • Resource Navigation Support clients in identifying recovery goals and steps toward achieving them. Guide clients in understanding their rights and advocating for their needs
  • Documentation & Reporting document interactions support plans referrals and outcomes in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork serve as a liaison between clients and service providers to enhance engagement and continuity of care.
  • Ongoing Development attend required training sessions and maintain certification(s). Engage in supervision peer consultation and reflective practice to enhance effectiveness.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of one year of sustained recovery from substance use disorder required.
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain a credential from one of the following within the first three months of employment (certification must demonstrate skills in Ethics and Boundaries Advocacy Mentoring and Education and Recovery and Wellness Support
    • National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC)
    • Minnesota Certification Board
    • For tribally licensed programs: credentialing from a Tribal Nation when applicable
    • Upper Midwest Indian Council on Addictive Disorders

Preferred:

  • Associate or bachelors degree in social work addiction studies or related field.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Experience working in a behavioral health recovery or treatment setting.
  • Familiarity with traumainformed care harm reduction and motivational interviewing.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ensure accurate data entry for patient registration and scheduling.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills (verbal & written) organization leadership and problemsolving.
  • Cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
