Position Description:
- The Bilingual Social Worker is responsible for addressing the needs of English Language Learners specifically Immigrant students facilitating their adjustment to the school Bilingual Social Worker will collect and compile data as needed for district state and federal reports and assists school staffs in crisis interventions with non and limited English speaking students.

- Reporting to the Director of English Language Learner Instruction
Scope of Responsibility:
- Provides psychosocial assessment for the identification of ESL childs needs and provides written reports within the required timelines.
- Provides information and referral services for the child and family to other community resources.
- Works directly with the child and family utilizing accepted social work therapeutic methods.
- Conducts treatment plans for referred bilingual ESL students addressing cognitive and developmental problems family issues or psychosocial issues.
- Structures a referral line to assist ESL staff ELL students and their families.
- Performs individual group family counseling and family visits as needed.
- Maintains frequent personal contact with schools housing ESL programs especially those schools serving large Hispanic Arabic and Vietnamese student population for the purpose of discussing and implementing techniques of working with children and their families (if itinerant).
- Addresses the needs of students in crisis in schools other than based school (if based at one or two schools).
- Organizes and conducts inservice training with school personnel and parents.
- Maintains case records reports and all necessary forms in order to provide for continuity of service and program accountability.
- Follows established guidelines of the program in which the social worker is employed.
- Acquires thirtysix 36 Continuing Learning Units (CLUs) per year (July 1 through June 30.
- Maintains security of electronic and print records with regard to confidentiality of student information and passwords that are issued for access to databases; maintains confidentiality of student/parent information.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of ELL.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bilingual with full proficiency in English and the target language.
- 3 years of progressively increasing experience social work services.
- Strong communication skills in multiple settings and the ability to be an engaging change agent and culture creator that can inspire and motivate.
- Master of Social Work required.

Physical Involvement:
- Sitting is required most of each work day.
- Must be able to operate office equipment.
- Standing walking reaching bending lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required.
- Ability to provide own transportation to schools work locations and meeting sites.
- Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations including locations not on the ground floor.
