Job Description

Position Title: Special Education TeacherClassification: ExemptPosition Type: Full time 185 day position)Salary Schedule: Teachers/TherapistsIntroductory Period: 90 daysReports To: Program AdministratorSummary/Objective:The Teacher will develop and implement curriculum in a therapeutic educational setting specifically designed to meet the academic social personal and therapeutic needs aligned with the MA Curriculum Frameworks to students with emotional and learning challenges who are between the ages of 1222. Instructional practices must be designed to complement counseling and transition/vocational services offered to students as part of the daily educational Functions/Duties:Develops and implements IEPs with clear and appropriate IEP goals and programs to meet diverse student needs within the classroom and community appropriate curriculum consistent with student learning style and the MA Curriculum student IEP objectives into classroom and implements lesson plans and activities which incorporate student IEP goals and and coordinates successful transition/community integration plans for and implements appropriate behavior management in conjunction with mental health the classroom environment to provide optimal learning effectively with LEAs student families therapists and other team effective classroom management classroom staff interns and as a member of the interdisciplinary duties as assigned by Program : Knowledge Skills and Abilities:Skills required to perform responsibilities teaching competencies as found in 603 CMR 7.11 1 (b).Competencies required to maintain appropriate certification.
