Position: Student Assistance Program Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director of Student Services and Principal
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent licensure in the mental health field required.
- Demonstrated training and professional experience in providing mental health services to children and adolescents.
- Experience and/or knowledge in drug and alcohol education prevention and intervention.
- Experience working with schoolage children and their families preferably within a school or educational setting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to structure and manage sensitive communications in a timely and confidential manner.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and FERPA regulations and the ability to operate within appropriate legal and ethical boundaries.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: To coordinate school and community efforts in mental health support and substance abuse prevention for Jenks Public Schools students parents and community. To mobilize the development of an environment free of student violence and illegal substance use.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Crisis Response & Student Support
- Serve as a first responder for students in emotional or behavioral crisis at the secondary level particularly at JHS and JFA.
- Consult with staff and parents on student mental health substance use and related concerns.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director of Student Services and site administrators during emergency or highrisk situations.
Prevention Education & Student Engagement
- Coordinate and facilitate prevention programs including Drug Free Youth and student support groups (e.g. Grief Group).
- Plan and host educational events and speakers for students staff and families on topics such as mental health substance abuse and overall wellbeing.
- Partner with campus groups and initiatives such as the Safe School and Healthy and Fit Schools Committees to promote a culture of wellness.
Community & Agency Collaboration
- Maintain active partnerships with external counseling and treatment providers to support students and families both on and off campus.
- Direct referrals monitor student progress and coordinate with parents teachers and community resources to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in the Opioid Abatement Grant Advisory Committee and seek out opportunities for additional funding or services.
Intervention & FollowUp
- Facilitate student interventions following drug/alcohol violations through the Student Intervention Program.
- Assist with implementation of random drug testing including coordination with sponsors of student clubs and organizations.
- Support student reentry and recovery after treatment as needed.
Threat Assessment & School Safety
- Serve as a contributing member of the Behavioral Threat Assessment Teams particularly at JHS and JFA.
- Collaborate with counselors administrators and district staff to assess and manage student safety concerns.
DistrictLevel Support & Coordination
- Assist the Executive Director of Student Services with planning and facilitating districtwide meetings and professional learning including speaker coordination and topic development.
- Maintain accurate records of program activities and outcomes and contribute to district initiatives aligned with student wellbeing.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Support all efforts that contribute to safe supportive and healthy learning environments aligned with the mission and vision of Jenks Public Schools.
Employment Terms:Ten 10 month classified or certified annual contract
