This is a 52 week position year-round. Work location- Oak Creek Campus.

Under the supervision of the Director of Student Life the Coordinator is responsible for largely focusing on the planning scheduling organizing and coordinating and delivery of student activities. This position will conduct investigations of student misconduct and other complaints. Interfaces regularly with the downtown campus Student Senate members Work is generally diversified requiring knowledge of student services using good judgment in analysis and decisions within the established procedures. Supervision received is general in nature and daily responsibilities are completed independently with supervisor interaction limited to strategic planning unusual conditions and problem situations.

  • Plans schedules organizes and coordinates the delivery of student activities.
  • Assists Director with investigations of student grievances of students or staff and student.
  • Coordinates district-wide student events and activities in collaboration with students.
  • Advises Milwaukee campus Student Senate.
  • Oversees the day-to-day management of the U-Pass Program.
  • Adheres to a team concept and follows established departmental routines and procedures.
  • Serves as Student Life representative on campus councils and committees.
  • Advocates for the co-curricular needs of students leading efforts to promote holistic student development and ensuring a student learning and development approach to events and activities that are responsive to student interests and needs.
  • Participates in developing student learning outcomes and tools to effectively assess student activities and events.
  • Establishes maintains and enhances positive work relationships staff faculty the district local and external agencies and the community.
  • Participates in meetings workshops seminars and other professional activities.
  • Coordinates departmental services and resources.
  • Practices honesty by demonstrating a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles values truthfulness and accuracy in all actions.
  • Acts and speaks consistent with and in support of MATCs Mission Vision and Values.
  • Addresses all student and employee behavior in a confidential and respectful manner.
  • Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the department.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Compliance with all state federal and accreditation standards/requirements as well as all MATC policies and procedures.


Required Education and Experience: Associates degree in Student Affairs Education or related field with emphasis in communications.

With Associate: Three (3) years of experience. Related experience includes: Experience in communications or related field.


Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelors degree is preferred. With Bachelors: One (1) year of experience.

Preferred License/Certification: CPR/First Aid Certification.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and ability to conduct student activities on/off campus.
  • Knowledge and ability to handle internal investigations of a highly confidential nature.
  • General knowledge of community based organizations/agencies structures and services.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word and other software applications.
  • Ability to establish collaborate and maintain effective work relationships with staff faculty and representatives of outside agencies.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse student and employee populations.
  • Ability to organize analyze and interpret statistical and management data.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects meet all deadlines and coordinate activities to achieve specific communication marketing and institutional goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well with students parents faculty staff and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

Supplemental Information

Start Date:This position supports the Student Engagement & Community Impact Department and is available to start immediately.

Hours:Up to 40 hours weekly in-person primarily based out of the Oak Creek Campus. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours Monday - Friday. Hours vary based on departmental needs. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.
