The Graduate Research Appointment (GRA) is a postbaccalaureate appointment for participants with an interest in biomedical research. The primary purpose is to provide a postbaccalaureate laboratory research experience that applies skills in science technology engineering or math to biomedical research including basic science or translational research. GRA participants will have the opportunity to participate in selected graduate classes and seminars while working in this role.

The candidate will work on highly interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of cell engineering molecular biology and bioinformaticsto engineer cellbased products to treat chronic diseases. The role will involve the following:
This is an excellent opportunity for postbaccalaureate students interested in gaining 12 year of intense research experience in an interdisciplinary area combining engineering with translational research and earning their position in journal publications.
Bachelors degree with a strong background in science technology engineering or math. Authorization to work and remain in the United States without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now or in the future (for example be a U.S. citizen national or permanent resident refugee or asylee.
Students that do not meet these criteria do not qualify.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those with a Bachelors degree in Engineering (Biological Chemical or Mechanical) Biology Chemistry or any closely related field and previous research experience. Preferred 1 year of lab experience with applied bioinformatics projects (preferably on largescale omics data). Staff will be trained to use the relevant techniques. Previous experience with some of the following techniques would be advantageous: mammalian cell culture biomolecular assays (ELISA Western Blot RNA extraction qPCR confocal microscopy) molecular cloning and Animal work (surgery bleeding necropsy).
