Job Description

General Manager Luxury Safari Tours Company Cape Town
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a General Manager for a leading luxury safari tours company based in Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced travel professional to oversee operations lead a highperforming team and drive strategic growth across the business. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both corporate and leisure travel with a strong understanding of Amadeus NDC and a proven ability to lead operations sales and support teams.

Key Responsibilities

Business Management

  • Oversee daytoday travel operations and systems

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers clients ITCs finance and support teams

  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations

  • Introduce and manage new technologies including NDC aggregators

  • Monitor and analyse KPIs to ensure performance targets are met

  • Manage supplier contracts with focus on fare negotiation and service delivery

  • Handle escalated customer service matters with a clientfirst approach

Staff Management & Development

  • Lead and guide operational finance and support staff to ensure productivity and accountability

  • Manage performance reviews leave tracking incentives and correspondence

  • Address disciplinary issues conflict resolution and staffing changes as needed

  • Identify team training needs and ensure continuous upskilling

  • Foster professional development and explore internal promotion opportunities

Sales & Client Relations

  • Identify internal and external sales opportunities

  • Support organic growth and assist in identifying new client opportunities

  • Negotiate and manage corporate travel deals (air and land)

  • Handle client complaints emergency travel support and afterhour consulting

  • Assist Key Account Managers (KAMs) with client onboarding and retention

  • Participate in client meetings support consultant onboarding and conduct ITC workshops

  • Ensure client database (CRM ZOHO) is uptodate

ITC & Training Oversight

  • Manage and support 25 Independent Travel Consultants and support staff

  • Conduct regular oneonone visits and team meetings

  • Provide guidance on fares reissues refunds and corporate queries

  • Deliver training on Amadeus QuickTrav Teams and aggregator systems

  • Handle ITC writeoffs ADMs and reinvoicing errors

  • Organise bimonthly supplier training sessions

GDS / Technology

  • Attend Amadeus forums training and pilot programs

  • Update Smart Flows and manage GDS bookings for flights hotels cars

  • Assist with complex travel arrangements including roundtheworld fares

  • Lead tech adoption and integration for operational improvements

Financial Management

  • Oversee budgets financial reporting and IATA compliance

  • Manage IATA payments GEI credit cards and client correspondence for payment issues

  • Supervise ADM processing writeoffs and finance procedure adherence

  • Handle new account setup and cash/credit account procedures


Supplier & Head Office Collaboration

  • Work with Head Office on new business opportunities

  • Maintain and grow relationships with industry suppliers

  • Attend forums trade shows supplier workshops and industry events

  • Stay informed on new technology products and destination offerings


IT & HR Responsibilities

  • Manage IT service provider relations and address tech issues (QuickTrav Teams etc.

  • Recruit new staff members as needed

  • Work closely with HR on staffrelated matters and disciplinary processes


Compliance & Subscriptions

  • Maintain compliance with ASATA IATA and other travel associations

  • Manage subscriptions (Travelinfo QuickTrav etc.

  • Keep Teams platform updated with contracts supplier contacts and procedures


Marketing & Advertising

  • Coordinate with marketing team to send weekly promotional content

  • Oversee social media newsletters and advertising campaigns

  • Support marketing efforts for ITCs and maintain CRM accuracy
