The University of Utah College of Social Work Social Research Institute SRI invites applications for a 12month careerline faculty position at the rank of Research Assistant Professor with responsibilities for contract procurement management and related administrative responsibilities as necessary. This is a nontenure track position intended to be a longterm position within the Universitys CareerLine Faculty structure with a renewable contract. The University of Utah and the College of Social Work SRI value candidates who have contract management and research experience working in health and human services workforce services or public benefit programs and possess a strong commitment to improving outcomes for historically underrepresented populations. Required Qualifications Master of Social Work degree from an institution accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or related degree. A minimum of three years of post MSW social work practice. Demonstrated experience in researchrelated contract work with public health and human social service entities. Candidates must be familiar with a wide range of basic and advanced statistical techniques Candidates must have an expert working knowledge of and be able to use at least one statistical programming language such as R SPSS Stata or SAS . Demonstrated experience in problem solving conflict resolution mediation consensus building consulting group facilitation and coordination involving large public organizations. Capacity to make recommendations while maintaining neutrality to achieve shared goals and objectives. Excellent communication organization time management and task completion skills. Ability to set expectations effectively follow up organize groups successfully execute tasks and complete projects in a highquality and timely manner. Expertise in establishing and maintaining professional working relationships with human service networks partnerships associations of government and/or community nonprofit organizations Experience with public child welfare agencies or other health and human service workforce development or public benefit delivery agencies. Familiar with federal and state laws affecting practice in these agencies in Utah. Ability to use Microsoft Office software including Word Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to travel two or three times monthly throughout Utah and sometimes within the continental United States. Valid Utah drivers license automobile and automobile insurance required. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. (or ABD in Social Work. Five or more years of post MSW micro and/or macro practice. Knowledge of graduate social work academic administrative and field education structures culture policies and procedures. Ability to work effectively with social work faculty at all Consortium universities. Current knowledge of leading trends in policy practice interventions training research and literature in public child welfare and/or health and human services in Utah. Knowledge of boilerplate terms and conditions used by large public agencies together with experience with university contracts and terms and conditions. Experience with Title IVE contracts. Experience working in or with a largescale urban public child welfare agency workforce development and public benefits agencies serving diverse populations and communities. Research or evaluation expertise including study design statistical analysis and reporting. Demonstrated experience working with information technology staff with expertise in databases learning All Preferred management systems elearning and business intelligence systems. Demonstrated publication and/or funding history as PI of grants or contracts. Responsibilities SRI has a faculty position open for a successful candidate to support and carry out grant and contract work on significant contracts with various Health and Human Services public agencies in Utah. The successful candidate will preferably already have experience as Principal Investigator (PI) of grant and contract work with such entities. Outstanding research and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite. The candidate will be expected to help SRI generate extramural funding for independent and collaborative research projects and to work well in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment in the Department and in the University community. Evidence of securing external grant funding will be a big plus. This position will report to the Director of the Social Research Institute SRI Dr. Chad McDonald. This position will be responsible for the coordination implementation and successful completion of significant contract work with Utahs Department of Workforce Services and Department of Health and Human Services including directly supervising staff who are supporting the contract work. Candidates are expected to assist in providing consultation to study investigators in the areas of protocol development study design analysis plan sample size/power calculations and interpretation of study data. Candidates are also expected to consult with the Directors of SRI and seek out opportunities to become involved in statistical leadership through teaching supervision mentoring and/or developing their own methodological research. Candidates are expected to actively expand their own research knowledge as well as administrative capacity. The successful candidate should demonstrate an ability to professionally interact daily with key personnel both internally and externally as aspects of the scope of work are negotiated including deadlines and other tasks being completed in a timely manner.
