About the Role
The Disaster Recovery Early Childhood (EC) Specialist will provide training and technical assistance (TTA) to programs to support progress toward established school readiness goals focusing on the use of child and program data to make decisions about approaches to working with teachers home visitors and parents in quality practices. Disaster Recovery Early Childhood Specialist will provide professionallevel expertise by engaging programs in dialogue and learning of best practices for children from birth to ve and encourage a culture of learning that promotes school readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite group and virtual TTA to grant recipients related to school readiness family engagement professional development and implementation of a researchbased coaching model.

  • Provide TTA related to the selection and implementation of ongoing child assessment curriculum teaching and learning environments that are age developmentally culturally and linguistically appropriate across the birthtove spectrum.

  • Support grant recipients to improve teacher/child interactions as described by the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) for centerbased preschool programs and other measures suitable for programs serving children from birth to ve or children in homebased and family childcare settings.

  • Support grant recipients to develop procedures and skills to understand and use data obtained through multiple sources including ongoing child assessment data.

  • Support grant recipients to develop and implement family engagement practices that support early learning and development and parent child relationships as described in the Parent Family and Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework.

  • Support grant recipients to strengthen birthtove transition practices including through relationships with parents families local preschools elementary schools and other partners.

  • Assist grant recipients in improving their collaboration with Local Education Agencies (LEAs) state agencies and other partners.

  • Coordinate TTA with Grantee Family Support Health and System Specialists to ensure eective integration of TTA across service areas as directed by the Oce of Head Start (OHS) Regional Oce.

  • Maintain regular and timely communication with the Oce of Head Start (OHS) Regional Oce sta on the delivery of TTA and progress toward corrective actions or quality improvement.

  • Participate in national regional and state work groups and meetings as directed by the Oce of Head Start.

  • Support emerging Oce of Head Start initiatives and priorities.

Minimum Qualications:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education/Development or related eld services.

  • Five years of experience in programs for young children ranging from birth to ve years of age.

  • Experience providing training and/or technical assistance and mental health services to teachers home visitors family childcare providers coaches and/or management team members.

  • Experience facilitating group discussions and presenting to a range of audiences using a variety of formats including virtual modalities.

  • Experience analyzing data and assisting programs to make datadriven decisions.

  • Knowledge of Head Start program performance standards and federal regulations.

  • Experience with programs and/or agencies serving children ages birth to five and families from diverse backgrounds such as children with mental health/emotional support needs special health care needs children with disabilities children who are dual language learners children in family childcare settings and/or children who are homeless.

  • Ability to type 55 wpm.

Professional Skills:

  • Must possess strong computer skills in MS Oce including Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook and Teams.

  • Strong analytical problemsolving and decisionmaking capabilities.

  • Team player with the ability to work in a fastpaced environment.

  • Ability to work with all levels of internal sta as well as outside clients and vendors.

Preferred Experience:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

  • Experience working with Dual Language Learners.

  • CLASS TOT certied.

Conditions of Employment

  • Complete a Drug Test.

  • Be at least 21 years of age.

  • Be able to obtain a Tier 1 Nonsensitive Public Trust (Low Risk) Clearance.

  • Available to travel as necessary.

  • A valid US Drivers license.


Security Clearance/Background Check Requirements

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government background investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classied information.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • Residency requirement 3 consecutive years in the last 5 years.

  • Internal background check to the satisfaction of contract requirements.


The Work Environment

  • This is a remote opportunity where occasional travel will be required as needed. Since this is a remote role must have a dedicated workspace conducive to full videoconferencing (camera and audio) for facilitating webinars and online discussions.

  • Must reside in one of the following states: Alabama Florida Georgia Kentucky Mississippi North Carolina South Carolina or Tennessee

Work Schedule

  • This is a fulltime position that typically works business hours Monday through Friday. Hours may vary depending on needs and may at times include travel evenings or weekends to meet specic project requirements.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility to walk sites and attend meetings with other

  • stakeholders and employees.

  • Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 10 of the time.

  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: 10 of the time.

  • Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to write type and use a telephone system 100 of the time.

  • Sitting: Sitting for prolonged and extended periods.
