Department:Pediatrics Cardiology

Job Title:ACHD APP

Position #: Requisition #:35806

Job Summary:

Clinical management of adult congenital heart patients at Childrens Hospital Colorado (CHCO) and University of Colorado Hospital (UCH). This position is part of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) group and time will be approximately split 60 at CHCO and 40 at UCH. The position primarily involves inpatient management but will include consults and occasional outpatient clinic. This role will involve taking rotating weekend call.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medical management of the ACHD patient within a multidisciplinary team. Participate in daily inpatient rounds for ACHD patients at CHCO and UCH.
  • Staff inpatient consults at CHCO and UCH.
  • Obtain patient histories perform physical examinations manage orders perform and interpret diagnostic tests prescribe medications and develop daily and longterm treatment plans.
  • Support and coordinate case management in the psychosocial needs of the ACHD patient.
  • Collaborate refer and consult with department attending physicians consulting specialists and other members of the health care team to deliver effective safe and highquality care.
  • Responsible for in basket management (prescriptions referrals patient followup and communications)
  • Provide educational opportunities to nurses APPS fellows and residents regarding care of the ACHD patient.
  • Support IRB approved clinical research/trials through a variety of activities including obtaining consent ordering diagnostic tests recording laboratory and diagnostic results administering therapeutic interventions and reporting patient outcomes including toxicities or adverse events.
  • Contribute to organizational and departmental quality improvement projects.

Onsite this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Masters degree in nursing or physician assistant studies
  • Current State of Colorado license
  • Current Certifications in Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support
  • Prescriptive authority or eligible for certification at time of hire
  • Acute care certification is required at time of hire for the advanced practice provider

Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Childrens Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of Cardiology and ACHD
  • Ability to provide top of scope care to diverse patients within an academic medical setting
  • Ability to manage patients with complex medical histories and/or diagnoses
  • Ability to effectively collaborate within interdisciplinary inpatient and outpatient teams
  • Strong clinical care skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to Patient Safety Quality Care Communication and Customer Service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in Pediatric Cardiology or Adult Cardiology
  • Minimum of 1year nursing or advanced practice experience

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range or hiring range for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $111000 to $127000

The above hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is nonexempt.
