Job Description SummaryThe purpose of this arrangement will be to provide after hours oncall coverage for the Department of Pediatrics/Division of Child Abuse Pediatrics (CAP) as a Pediatric Sexual Nurse Examiner (PSANE).
The PSANE RN provides timely and compassionate care to pediatric and adolescent sexual victims. These responsibilities include triage forensic examination prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases photographic documentation referrals for appropriate medical and psychological followup and support and participation in legal proceedings. The PSANE RN works under the direction of the PSANE Program Coordinator and follows established protocols.

Job Summary/Purpose:
The purpose of this arrangement will be to provide after hours oncall coverage for the Department of Pediatrics/Division of Child Abuse Pediatrics (CAP) as a Pediatric Sexual Nurse Examiner (PSANE).
The PSANE RN provides timely and compassionate care to pediatric and adolescent sexual victims. These responsibilities include triage forensic examination prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases photographic documentation referrals for appropriate medical and psychological followup and support and participation in legal proceedings. The PSANE RN works under the direction of the PSANE Program Coordinator and follows established protocols.
Required Minimum Training and Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and one year related nursing experience. Pediatric experience preferred. Licensure as RN by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
Required Licensure Certifications Registrations: Current South Carolina RN License and BLS required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide quality costefficient healthcare to all patients as applicable to the assigned clinical setting (e.g. forensic healthcare examinations treatment and followup services). Completion of documents associated with clinical activities for each patient must occur on a timely basis. This includes compliance with standards set by the Department of Pediatrics MUSC MUHA UMA payor and any other regulatory agent or agency monitoring activity.
- Required to be available to be on call a minimum of one weeknight per week and one weekend per month. Attend monthly PSANE review meeting for which CEUs are awarded.
- Prompt phone response to all pages from the MUSC Pediatric Emergency Department (minimum requirement is within 10 minutes of page) and prompt physical response at the Emergency Department to provide clinical services (minimum requirement is within 45 minutes of being paged). Prompt peer review of every case within seven 7 days as arranged by Program Coordinator and CAP Physician.
- Full participation in orientation as expected: to include didactic and clinical training. Able to meet IAFN criteria and take the certification test within twentyfour 24 months after training has commenced.
