Job Summary
The Department of Early Childhood Special Education and Counselor Education EDSCE in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure track position in the rank of assistant professor in Special Education. This regular title series faculty member will provide expertise in support of the moderate to severe disabilities program across elementary middle and secondary school levels. The assistant professor also will contribute to the climate of inclusion in special education scholarship. The appointment is nine months effective August 16 2025. Responsibilities include the following: Teach two courses each semester (fall and spring); conduct a line of research relevant to special education (e.g. peer reviewed publications grant proposals presentations); advise current and incoming students; engage with P12 and university faculty in program planning implementation and evaluation; ensure innovative programs comply with accreditation and state standards; serve on masters and doctoral committees; and provide service to the department college university and profession. Qualifications include an earned doctorate or expected doctorate in special education prior to the start date 3 years of experience as a P12 educator with a focus in low incidence disabilities (e.g. moderate/severe extensive support needs) effective collaboration with P12 partners in education existing external funding or line of research and scholarship that has the potential to lead to external funding a commitment to innovative inclusive education and evidence of positively impacting student growth and achievement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in evidenced based instructional methodology for learners with low incidence disabilities. A BCBA D is preferred but not required.
