Job Description
Salary Range:$59511.00$76733.00 Yearly Individuals new to state service start at the minimum of the pay plan.

These positions are categorized as Emergency Support Services/Essential Staff. Must be willing and able to work during emergency closures/delayed openings due to inclement weather or for significant events that affect campus operations. Applicants must also be willing to respond to emergencies on overtime (nights weekends and holidays).
Please note that Facilities Operations NP2 employees may also be required to perform job duties as assigned at any of the Regional Campuses.
Applicants must possess and retain a current motor vehicle operator license throughout employment with the University.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Performs highly skilled tasks in accordance with standard masonry trade practices and codes;
- Lays bricks stones hollow tile terra cotta and building blocks to construct or repair walls partitions abutments and other structures;
- Constructs intricate forms for end walls catch basins and other similar structures;
- Supervises mixing and pouring of concrete and cement;
- Does more difficult grouting;
- Makes estimates of time personnel and determines and obtains materials required on assigned tasks;
- Keeps necessary records;
- In smaller trade areas may be the sole worker running a skilled trade area;
- Performs duties related to similar trade areas as required;
- May lay and repair resilient flooring and Formica;
- May install or repair plastering;
- May act as liaison with other operating units and outside contacts;
- May operate heavy equipment;
- May respond to fire and/or crash emergency situations at state owned airports;
- Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY
- Considerable knowledge of and ability to apply standard tools materials methods and standard masonry trade practices;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Four 4 years of experience in tasks in masonry trade.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS SPECIAL EXPERIENCE
Two 2 years of the General Experience must have been performing skilled masonry trades.
NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Skilled Maintainer or Transportation Maintainer 2.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
- Graduation from a vocational or technical school with a diploma designating completion of subject requirements in a maintenance trade area may be substituted for two 2 years of the General Experience.
- Two 2 years of experience as a Qualified Craft Worker Intern in a designated maintenance trade area may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.
- Experience performing technical duties within the masonry trade area on a military base aircraft carrier or large compound may be substituted for the General and Special Experience on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with a variety of concrete mixes.
- Experience with respirator fit testing and training.
- Experience with drainage principles including trenching shoring and pipe installation.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with masonry tools equipment and techniques.
- Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated experience with assisting in the creation of chimneys walls frames walkways and other structures that would be common in the Masonry trade.
- Experience with different types of throughwall flashing systems.
- Completion of a masonry apprenticeship.
- Four years of commercial/industrial masonry experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Incumbents in this class may be required by the appointing authority to possess and retain appropriate valid current licenses permits and/or certifications.
- Incumbents in this class may be required to attend technical seminars or courses.
- Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
- Applicants must have a current motor vehicle operator license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength stamina physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties.
- A physical examination may be required.
- Incumbents in this class will be required to drive and operate motor vehicles including but not limited to vans box trucks and pickup trucks ranging in size from compact midsize fullsize and heavyduty some of which are equipped with lift gates.
- Incumbents must have adequate physical strength and agility to walk up and down stairs frequently and climb ladders independently. Must be able lift carry and push material weighing up to 75 lbs. Must have the ability to utilize ladders scaffolding highlifts and enter confined spaces. Must be able to perform inspections alterations repairs and maintenance of structures and facilities. Must be able to perform job duties in areas both internal external and adjacent to buildings along with performing repairs to areas located outdoors on the grounds of campus to sidewalks retaining walls must possess the ability to utilize tools perform the required duties set forth above and will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights and to use protective equipment such as respirators and safety goggles; and may be exposed to risk of injury from equipment extreme weather conditions and/or environmental conditions.
- The appointing authority may require completion of hazardous materials training programs such as asbestos PCB PFAS consistent with EPA guidelines for operations and maintenance during employment in this class.
- Incumbents in this class will be required to complete annual respirator fit testing and training.
- Incumbents in this class will be required to complete silica testing every three years consisting of a Silica Physical Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT) Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) and a Chest XRay with B Read.
