Job Title: CTE Future Educators Teacher

CTE Pathway: Future Educators

Job Summary: The Utica City School District is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced CTE Future Educators Teacher to lead a program that prepares students for careers in teaching and educationrelated fields. This program will introduce students to teaching methodologies child development educational psychology and classroom management while also providing handson teaching experiences. The ideal candidate will inspire and equip students with the foundational skills needed to pursue degrees and careers in education supporting the development of future teachers counselors and education professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum Development:

  • Design and implement a standardsbased curriculum that aligns with New York State CTE Education and Training Career Cluster standards.

Teach courses covering:

  • Foundations of Education History and philosophy of education roles of teachers and the U.S. education system.
  • Child & Adolescent Development Stages of learning behavior management and psychology of learning.
  • Teaching Strategies & Instructional Design Lesson planning assessment and differentiated instruction.
  • Classroom Management & Professional Ethics Managing student behavior communication strategies and legal considerations in education.
  • Incorporate projectbased learning that allows students to create lesson plans conduct mock lessons and engage in peer teaching experiences.
  • Utilize educational technology learning management systems and digital tools to enhance instruction.

WorkBased Learning & Field Experience:

  • Develop and coordinate internship and fieldwork opportunities where students gain handson experience in local elementary middle or high schools.
  • Supervise students as they assist certified teachers tutor younger students and participate in classroom observations.
  • Partner with teacher preparation programs at colleges and universities to create early college opportunities for aspiring educators.

Career & College Readiness:

  • Guide students in preparing for careers in education including teaching counseling special education and administration.
  • Assist students in obtaining certifications such as Child Development Associate (CDA) or Teaching Assistant Certifications.
  • Help students develop professional portfolios that include lesson plans teaching philosophies and reflections on their field experiences.
  • Support students in applying for educationrelated scholarships college programs and dualenrollment courses.

Industry & Community Partnerships:

  • Establish partnerships with school districts teacher training programs and education organizations to enhance learning opportunities.
  • Organize guest speaker sessions college visits and professional development workshops for students interested in teaching careers.
  • Stay current with education policies best practices and curriculum trends to ensure students are prepared for future teaching careers.

Classroom & Program Management:

  • Create a positive inclusive learning environment that models effective teaching practices.
  • Maintain student records track progress and provide meaningful feedback to help students grow as future educators.
  • Ensure compliance with state education regulations and safety protocols related to workbased learning experiences.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Industry Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience in education (teaching counseling administration early childhood education etc..
  • Education: A bachelors or masters degree in education child development or a related field is preferred. Candidates with a high school diploma and significant industry experience may qualify for a Transitional A Certificate.
  • Certification: Willingness to obtain or maintain a New York State CTE teaching certification (districtsupported professional development available).

Technical & Teaching Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies learning theories and curriculum development.
  • Proficiency in educational technology digital learning platforms and student engagement strategies.
  • Ability to mentor inspire and support students in their journey to becoming future educators.
  • Excellent communication organization and classroom management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching or training experience in K12 education teacher preparation programs or educationrelated organizations.
  • Familiarity with New York State teaching certification pathways and requirements.
  • Experience supervising student teachers mentoring new educators or working in teacher preparation programs.

About the Utica City School District:

The Utica City School District serves a community of approximately 64500 city residents in an urban and multi cultural environment with a current enrollment of roughly 9644 students in its 13 schools Proctor High School Donovan Middle School JFK Middle School and 10 elementary schools. The Districts greatest asset is its diversity with more than 50 languages spoken and 16 of students being English language learners.

Elementary The Districts elementary schools integrate a vibrant curriculum across all grade levels and subject areas aligning with the New York State Learning Standards. The District is also investing in the realignment of math goals instruction and curriculum to focus on researchbased best practices in mathematics that are proven to increase student performance outcomes. In all subject areas there is an understanding that developing foundational skills will support students in bridging gaps in learning. Students are provided with a wellrounded curriculum focused on fostering academic and social/emotional competencies that will carry them through their academic career.

Middle School The focus at the Districts middle schools is to ensure that students are provided with equitable opportunities to successfully transition from elementary to high school. Both middle schools offer opportunities for students to succeed at every learning level with dedicated classes for English Language Learners and students with disabilities as well as honors/advanced studies. The Family and Career Sciences and Technology programs have incorporated science technology engineering and math topics into each curriculum to help prepare students for the Career and Technical Education opportunities available at the high school.

High School Proctor High School provides numerous avenues for students to achieve the Districts vision. This is accomplished through supportive and adaptive special education and English language learner programming a robust honors and Advanced Placement curriculum and partnerships with postsecondary institutions including Mohawk Valley Community College and Syracuse Universitys Project Advance. The District most recently embarked upon a groundbreaking initiative working with community and business partners to create innovative Career and Technical Education programming for its high school students. Proctors Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp (NJROTC) music art and drama programs along with numerous extracurricular activities and athletics offer additional avenues to showcase students talents and interests and support them throughout their school experience.

$45011$95002 (with a Masters Degree)
