JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Cognitive Aging and Neuroimaging Lab in the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State is hiring a fulltime Human Research Technologist to assist in their investigation of the effects of aging on episodic memory using both behavioral and neuroimaging (fMRI) methods.
Current projects in the lab center around understanding the cognitive and neural processes underlying false memories and associative memories. With respect to cognitive aging our research examines neural markers of agerelated cognitive decline as well as mechanisms supporting neural compensation.
Regarding neuroimaging we utilize univariate multivariate (pattern classification representational similarity analyses) functional connectivity and structural analytical approaches in our investigation of encoding and retrieval processes underlying memory performance.
Information about all of our research including ongoing projects can be found on our lab website at the Human Research Technologist will work together with a team of graduate and undergraduate students on grantfunded projects related to understanding and reducing false memories in younger and older adults.
The key responsibilities of the position will include daytoday management tasks of lab activities including scheduling and recruiting participants training and supervising undergraduate research assistants creating experimental and laboratory protocols and procedures programming of studies as well as data collection and analysis (including both behavioral and neuroimaging). Education and Experience: This position will be filled as a Human Research Technologist Social Sciences Professional which requires a minimum of an Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelors degree in psychology neuroscience computer science or related fields as well as excellent interpersonal skills are preferred. Those who will be receiving their degree at the conclusion of the Spring 2025 semester/term are eligible to apply.
Experience with programming languages (e.g. MATLAB R Python) and analysis of fMRI data is desirable.
