Title: GA PreProfessional University College/Developmental Mathematics Fall 2025 and Spring 2026

Graduate Assistants in University College/Developmental Mathematics support and execute the services of University College/Developmental Mathematics. The department consists of 2 Curriculum Services professional staff members 5 instructors 3 graduate assistants and over 15 tutors. The Lab operates as a team and therefore graduate assistants work with a diverse mix of both academic support services and programmatic responsibilities.
Developmental Mathematics Graduate Assistants provide supervision to the operations of the developmental math lab and the tutors that work in the developmental math lab. Graduate Assistants are also expected to assist int he training hiring supervision and evaluation of the developmental math tutors.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the coordination and daily operation of the Developmental Mathematics Lab.
2. Supervise train and evaluate undergraduate tutors in conjunction with the Curriculum Services Pro Staff.
3. Complete administrative tasks including tracking usage data and updating weekly tutor schedules as needed.
4. Grade student work and tutor students as needed.
5. Assist Developmental Math instructors with various educational tasks.
6. Conduct student workshops on developmental math strategies as needed.
7. Maintain confidentiality of student records.
8. Assess daily operations and provide suggestions to the fulltime staff members.
9. All other duties as assigned or discussed with the Assistant Director.
$1510/month
1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at All ISU requirements for Graduate Assistants must be met including full time enrollment 9 credit hours) in a masters or doctoral program.
3. Must be a degreeseeking graduate student at Illinois State University in one of the following areas:
Accounting
Economics
Mathematics
Teaching and Learning
Technology
4. Interest in promoting academic achievement of students mathematics understanding and skill development
5. Interest in working with diverse student populations.
6. Sensitivity to the needs of developmental mathematics students.
7. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
8. General computer knowledge and competency.
20 hours per week evening and limited weekend hours required
