Job Description
The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine and ARUP Laboratories are inviting applications from individuals with a strong interest in building an academic career in Clinical Laboratory Cytogenetics. Applicants should hold either an MD MD/PhD or PhD degree and be boardcertified or eligible in Cytogenetics or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics. ARUP is a comprehensive highcomplexity reference laboratory that serves a diverse clientele. Our clients include over half of the nations university teaching hospitals childrens hospitals major commercial laboratories military and government facilities and numerous community hospitals. As a result our laboratory receives a wide variety of specimen types and testing requests. We provide an extensive range of testing options encompassing both traditional techniques and specialized esoteric testing in the field of laboratory diagnostics. The successful candidate must have competency in chromosome analysis FISH and genomic microarray/copy number variant interpretation in both constitutional and oncology settings. Primary responsibilities include clinical test result interpretation and reporting; quality control and assurance; laboratory test development; teaching and training of fellows and residents; and committee service. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical and academic background appropriate to their level of training and experience as well as excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills. Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with the candidates experience and accomplishments.
