Job Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words were the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Amazon is looking for best in class Fiber Engineers to help build one of the worlds largest and most complex networks. Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated technically savvy Fiber Engineer to help develop and scale one of the worlds largest and most complex networks.
The ideal candidate will possess a technical background with a strong working knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and should also have a demonstrated ability to create fiber network design drawing scope of work other necessary technical documentation and associated processes. They should have demonstrated ability to think logically about technical challenges with the ability to break down and resolve issues independently. As well as:
Experience working in GIS Systems
Engineering and process design methodology
Understanding of Underground Construction Techniques
Understanding of Outside and Inside Plant Cabling and Routing
Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
Ability to work across multiple time zones

Key job responsibilities
As a Fiber Engineer you will have the exciting opportunity to help create design fiber solutions processes and maintain records surrounding our fiber optic infrastructure. You will:
Interface with internal (Network Engineers Business Developers Deployment Engineers Tool Automation) and external stakeholders (Construction Vendors Engineering Firms
Create engineering design and documents single line drawings and cable routing and splicing work packages.
Ingest and audit GIS data for completeness and accuracy
Implement process improvements across multiple stakeholders

BS or MS degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in an ITrelated field.
2 years experience working in GIS Systems.
3 years experience in project/program management with a proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels.
5 years of outside/inside plant engineering experience.
Programming language to assist in data and GIS analysis
