The Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) seeks a motivated and qualified individual for the Investigator 3 position. This role is within the Legal Affairs Division and is based out of our Tumwater Office.

About the Position

Are you ready to take your investigative skills to the next level The Investigator 3 position is a highimpact role where youll serve as an expert investigator diving deep into complex cases involving suspected violations of Washingtons Insurance Code. This position gives you the opportunity to make a real difference by ensuring that licensed and unlicensed insurance professionals agencies and unauthorized insurers are held to the highest standards.

Your work will be pivotal in investigating violations that span across insurance producers title agents adjusters and even unlicensed activities all while collaborating with the Unauthorized Company Investigations Unit. Youll also be responsible for investigating the conduct of Health Care Benefit Managers and Pharmacy Benefit Managers throughout Washington state a key part of our mission to protect consumers.

The Legal Affairs division offers supportive leadership and a zest for employee development and enrichment; with the unit itself being a closeknit cohesive team that prioritizes collaboration and values the integral role of each Senior Investigator towards the success of the unit.

This is a Washington General Service position. The monthly salary range for this position is $5643 $7589.

Qualifications

*Experience is defined as (a) gathering and analyzing relevant highly technical data (b) interpreting and organizing this information (c) applying the facts to legal statutes and (d) preparing detailed reports with conclusions supported by evidence keyed to legal statutes. Such experience may be gained through the following types of work functions: review analysis and evaluation of insurance contracts or forms for compliance with laws and regulations; investigation and resolution of consumers complaints; professional work experience in areas such as regulatory examinations and regulatory compliance; and ability to conduct audit activities summarize findings and recommend corrective actions.


Note: Education involving a major study in healthcare administration business administration public health or a healthrelated field law or closely related field may substitute for up to 3 years of professional work experience.

If a degree or other credentials are listed proof will be required prior to employment. Education must be from an accredited institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation or a foreign equivalent. If a degree was awarded outside the United States candidates must provide a credential evaluation report.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Title 48 RCW and Title 284 WAC.
  • Qualifying investigative experience was performed within the past three years.
  • Experience in reading analyzing and interpreting complex agreements and contracts; especially insurance contracts and agreements.
