Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors degree or higher from a recognized accredited college or university.
  2. Valid teaching certificate appropriate for secondary music.
  3. Demonstrates skills in teaching vocal technique and choir.
  4. Demonstrates skills in leading motivating and cooperating with students parents teachers and administrators.
  5. Strong communication skills.
  6. Knowledge of T.M.E.A. and U.I.L. rules and procedures.
  7. For Head Director applicants demonstrates ability to grow and maintain a large successful choir program in a public school setting.
  8. For Head Director applicants minimum of three years of experience as a secondary public school director.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 187 days

SALARY:

Pay Grade T60 (Teacher Classification) as approved by the Board of Trustees

stipend as approved

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Recruit and retain students in thechoir program.
  2. Teach appropriatevocal pedagogy andvocal skills for student success including at UIL evaluations.
  3. Prepare individual students for success at individual auditions and competitions including UIL and TMEA competitions.
  4. Collaborate with building Fine Arts staff and vertical staff.
  5. Maintain emotional control under stress.
  6. Demonstrate professional ethical and responsible behavior.
  7. Maintain confidentiality.
  8. Work frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
  9. Collaborate in preparation of NonVarsity and Varsity Ensembles for successful performances and competitions.
  10. Head Directors will be expected to mentor and train assistant director(s) when appropriate.
  11. Head directors will be expected to manage the budget fundraising private lesson program library andinventory.
  12. Head Directors will be expected towork withthe booster club to implement approved goals (when applicable).
  13. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

This link should be viewable by all that have the link. This portfolio should include recordings of your 2 most recent performing groups. If you were an assistant director for these performances you may include recordings of performing groups that you collaborated with.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

2. Posture:Frequent standing stooping bending pulling and pushing

3. Motion: Frequent walking

4. Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); may liftclassroom equipment

5. Environment: Regular exposure to noise

6. Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours; frequenttravel and frequent travel by school bus.
