Title: Postdoctoral Fellow
Department: Pharmacological Sciences
Physical work location: (must be proper street address): 1425 Madison Ave 16th fl
Name PI or Supervisor: (include phone and email): Jian Jin PhD
Web link to Lab: link to Department: Contact: (phone and email): Yoori Kim
Details of Research Project:
Jian Jin lab is a leader in the heterobifunctional small moleculeinduced protein posttranslational modification (PTM) field. Jin Lab has discovered a number of firstinclass small molecule inhibitor/chemical probes as well as proteolysis targeting chimera (PROTAC) degraders for targeted protein degradation (TPD) and developed numerous new technologies for advancing the heterobifunctional small moleculeinduced protein PTM and TPD fields. The project(s) will involve discovery of small molecule inhibitors/chemical probes and heterobifunctional small molecules to target human diseases as well development of new technologies in the heterobifunctional small moleculeinduced protein PTM and TPD fields to advance these fields.
Technical Duties: (include any protocols)
Your main responsibilities will include: 1 Participating in the research projects which include discoveringsmall molecule inhibitors/chemical probes and heterobifunctional small molecules such as PTOTACs to target human diseases as well development of new technologies in the protein PTM and TPD fields. 2Conducting routine standardized as well as complex experiments required for the specific research projects. 3 Cell culture (growing passaging and maintenance of multiple cell lines and treating them with test compounds). 4 Running cellular assays (such as Western blotting and MTT assays and others as listed in the experience required field). 5 Preparing internal reports manuscripts and presentations on the results of above activities for the review of the supervisor.6 Documenting all work according to standard procedures. 7 Complying with all safety rules and requirements and maintaining clean and safe laboratory environment. 8 Assisting in the upkeep of appropriate inventory and consumable orders.
Educational and other Requirements for the position:
PhD
Experience Required:
Experience in 2D cell culture of various cancer cell lines/Human T cells; cell viability assays (WST8 MTT); clonogenic colony formation assay; luciferase assay; Western blotting; Immunohistochemistry; ELISA; pulldown coIP experiments; DNA RNA Protein isolation; conventional PCR and gel electrophoresis; RTqPCR; gene cloning experiments; virus preparation and cell transfection and infection; CRISPR/Cas9 gene knockout; flow cytometry.
Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project:
Successful outcome of the project(s) would be the discovery of novel heterobifunctional small molecules such as PROTACs or small molecule inhibitors/chemical probes as tool compounds or preclinical drug candidates to study and/or treat human diseases such as cancer and publication of the results of our findings to contribute to and advance the field.
