BUS DRIVER
Supervisor: Transportation Supervisor
Salary Range: PSE Salary Schedule
Location/Assignment: Transportation Department
Conditions of work:180 Days/3.5 hours
SUMMARY:
The position of Bus Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of students to and from school as well as to and from extracurricular activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Successfully complete school bus driver training programs and courses established by the State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Operate a school bus in accordance with the laws of the state of Washington and policies published by the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Operate school bus in all types of weather conditions including but not limited to fog rain hail sleet snow and ice.
Operate on scheduled routes and/or on all types of trips in support of district approved activities both in and out of school district boundaries.
Maintain control of student passengers as related to safety. Report unsafe acts or conditions.
Perform required operational and safety inspections of the school bus and all related equipment pre and post trip.
Clean and service school bus including interior/exterior sweeping washing fueling and other nonmechanical servicing tasks on an as needed basis.
In emergency situations perform basic first aid as appropriate which may include CPR.
Legibly and accurately complete forms records time sheets trip requests route studies trouble reports misconduct reports accident reports and other clerical type activities as may be required.
Attend all safety meetings and perform required safety trainings.
Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Perform split shifts and varied hours depending on route.
Other job duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum age 21.
Sufficient command of the English language to communicate with students parents district staff members and community.
A valid Washington State School Bus Drivers certificate required or able to obtain.
Possess a valid Washington state drivers license with the appropriate endorsements of class B and P or ability to obtain.
CDL medical certificate or ability to obtain.
Possess a current first aid card or ability to obtain.
Minimum of two years driving experience.
Subject to drug and alcohol screening test as a condition of employment and annual random testing.
Proven ability to work independently and plan and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Ability to be flexible and agile with schedules and routes.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations.
Attendance and punctuality are important in this position.

Continuing requirement to be able to demonstrate the physical ability to perform the job functions of a school bus driver.
Sufficient strength and agility to assist ill physically impaired students through emergency and passenger doors along with other students in an emergency situation on the bus.
