About the Center for Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management
The Center for Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management (CPMM) at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy is seeking applications for a Research Assistant Professor. CPMM is one of five major research Centers in The Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (RIPS) at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy.
CPMM is a research center of excellence that advances research teaching and service in the areas of medication use and health outcomes management of pharmacy organizations and the marketing and utilization of appropriate medications in all segments of the healthcare industry.
A current major project of CPMM is the EvidenceBased Drug Utilization Review Program (MSDUR) conducted for the Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM). Other key deliverables for this project include supporting DOMs quality initiatives through the reporting of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Child and Adult Quality Measures using administrative claims data and conducting valuebased contract data aggregation and evaluation. CPMM manages a restricted data center with access to multiple years of Medicare Medicaid and other data that supports its research mission. Additionally another major focus of CPMM is the Cannabis Patient Outcomes (Real World Evidence) project which is part of the MS Medical Cannabis Research Program. Moreover CPMM works closely with the Department of Pharmacy Administration and almost all research projects in the Center and Department are conducted by collaborative teams of the faculty staff and graduate students working in the two units. This position is a nontenure track research faculty position. The successful candidate will be considered for a joint appointment at the rank of assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Administration. Salary depends on qualifications skills and prior experience of the applicant.
Position Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include: managing research reports and projects including developing study designs and conducting advanced analysis of claims data for the MSDUR program designing and conducting research studies in alignment with the goals of the Cannabis Patient Outcomes project developing an independent research program participating in collaborative research projects of mutual interest training and supervising graduate research assistants and potentially teaching in the graduate program.

A Ph.D. or comparable degree in pharmacy administration health services research epidemiology biostatistics or related field is required by the time of employment. Experience in or knowledge of the health care system secondary database analysis and SAS programming is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate familiarity with large national claims databases pharmacoepidemiology and outcomes research. Any experience with patient reported outcomes or valuebased contracting/outcomesbased contracting is preferred but not required.
