ICT INFRASTRUCTURE & DATA PROTECTION ANALYST

ABOUT THE UPPER GRAND DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD (UGDSB)

The UGDSB employs a team of approximately 4000 dedicated staff who serve more than 35000 students attending a variety of programs across 65 elementary and 11 secondary schools as well as continuing education and adult learning centres in the counties of Dufferin Wellington and the City of Guelph. The UGDSB covers the ancestral and treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit the Six Nations of the Grand River and Saugeen Ojibway Nation.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Upper Grand District School Board is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team for a permanent fulltime opportunity in the ICT Infrastructure & Data Protection Analyst role. This is a 12month position to commence as soon as possible.

Reporting to the Manager of ICT Infrastructure ICT Infrastructure & Data Protection Analyst is vital in analyzing designing optimizing and securing the organizations IT infrastructure. This role ensures compliance with security standards collaborates with crossfunctional teams and aligns infrastructure strategies with organizational goals. Responsibilities include maintaining IT infrastructure developing PowerShell scripts and providing Tier3 support for complex technical issues.

The ICT Infrastructure and Data Protection Analyst designs implements and manages data protection strategies to ensure data confidentiality integrity and availability. This role involves developing data backup solutions monitoring backup processes and safeguarding data against loss and unauthorized access.

The ICT Infrastructure & Data Protection Analyst conducts risk assessments enforces data protection policies ensures compliance with industry standards and leads disaster recovery plans. Additionally the analyst also leads incident response efforts provides training on data protection threats and best practices and mentors junior team members.

LOCATION: Guelph Board Office 500 Victoria Road N Guelph ON)

HOURLY RATE: Base Hourly rate: $31.72 to $38.90 per hour; wage rate effective September 1 2024

*Labour market adjustment of 45 to be applied to base hourly rate; hourly rate inclusive of market adjustment is $46.00 to $56.40 per hour

*labour market adjustment may fluctuate based on local market.

FTE/HOURS: 1.0 FTE 35 hours per week)

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to tasks and duties in the following areas:

  • ICT Infrastructure and Data Centre Management
  • Data Protection
  • IT Service Management
  • Tier 3 ICT Support
  • Compliance and Regulatory Compliance
  • Technical Documentation and Training
  • Perform other duties as assigned to grow and develop as an IT professional
Experience and Qualifications:
  • PostSecondary Degree / Diploma in Computer Engineering Electric Engineering or another related technical field with 5 years of appropriate experience. Post Secondary Degree in a related field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in ICT infrastructure which includes all physical and virtual resources used to deliver IT services such as servers storage devices network components security systems operating systems applications power systems cooling and cloud computing resources.
  • 3 years of experience in cloud platform management identity and access management (IAM) systems management IT service management (ITSM) Hypervisors Cloud/PaaS/IaaS/SaaS Disaster Recovery and Tier3 ICT support.
  • Expert in designing and managing data backup solutions developing strategies to prevent data loss and unauthorized access implementing security measures conducting risk assessments enforcing policies managing disaster recovery plans monitoring systems for incidents ensuring compliance and leading incident response efforts.
  • Excellent knowledge of the ITIL framework and best practices for IT service management (ITSM). Good understanding of CIS Critical Security Controls. Proven ability to lead IT and data centre infrastructure projects. Experience with vendor management for support procuring and managing IT infrastructure.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues determine root causes and recommend and implement preventive measures. Proven ability to engage in proactive activities such as system optimization and digital transformation.
  • Knowledgeable about cybersecurity privacy and student safety regulations audit and compliance requirements. Proven ability adhering to applicable regulations and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Certificates such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate CompTIA Security ITIL Foundation Certification Certified Data Centre Specialist (CDCS) Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) Veeam Certified Architect (VMCA) Dell DCAISM: Information Storage and Management (DEA1TT5 preferred.
  • Proficiency and expertise with TOPdesk Microsoft Intune PowerShell and PowerShell Universal Microsoft Azure Site Recovery disaster recovery and business continuity HyperV Azure Arc Defender Sentinel Entra ID Terraform Anisible CyberArc Keeper Security Veeam and Microsoft Power Platform.
