Job Overview
The Grounds Maintenance Summer Support employee will work with the facilities team to support the upkeep and repair of school grounds during the summer months. Responsibilities include performing tasks such as mowing lawns operating equipment and maintaining safe and wellkept school properties. The position involves a range of outdoor activities ensuring adherence to safety standards and efficient completion of maintenance operations. This role is designed for college students and offers the opportunity to return each summer providing continuity and growth throughout their college experience.
Roles and Responsibilities
The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.
- Assists with minor repairs to parking lots walkways and signage.
- May clean workshop areas and parking lots by sweeping or blowing
- May require hand washing mowing equipment and vehicles on a routine basis to include scrubbing and using a power washer.
- Operates tractor and commercial grade riding mowers and/or other equipment as necessary.
- Position requires working outside in the weather; conditions may include rain and heat.
- Uses a variety of equipment and power tools including but not limited to blowers powerwashers trimmers and edgers.
- Assists with installation maintenance and repair projects.
- Collects refuse from grounds and dumpster areas at schools.
- Operates LCPS truck and towed equipment trailer.
- Demonstrates professionalism with LCPS personnel schools staff and the public.and public.
- Wears issued uniform to include task specific safety equipment.
- Possesses basic mechanical ability to perform routine maintenance.
- Performs repairs on fences and playground equipment. Must be able to lift and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

- Valid Drivers License
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- General knowledge of occupational hazards and safety
- Work may require repetitive motion reaching lifting kneeling and walking.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
