Position Summary
The German Department at Bowdoin College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor twoyear sabbatical replacement position (with possible extension for a third year). Appointment begins July 2017 pending final administrative approval. Research specialization is open in any area of post1750 Germanlanguage literature and culture. Candidates who allow us to expand our curriculum in new directions are preferred. A strong commitment to teaching all levels of German language literature and culture and evidence of success as a teacher at the college level are essential. Native or nearnative fluency in German and English expected. Load: Two preparations per semester. The successful candidate will teach courses at all levels of the German language & culture sequence upperlevel seminar(s) in German and large culture course(s) in English. Ph.D. preferred advanced ABD considered. Bowdoin College accepts only electronic submissions.
