Description:
The Academic Coaches are an essential element in the Learning Resources and Support mission to empower individuals to be curious and become independent innovative learners through coaching WNC students and supporting LRS functions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides academic coaching in either a group or individual setting. May also provide tutoring online. Assists in developing and presenting workshops. Assists in developing resources to support the mission of the LRS department. Attend training and other meetings as required. Adheres to all FERPA requirements. Follows the National Tutoring Association Code of ethics Maintains statistical and other records as required. Provides tours of the library. Provides firstline research assistance. Assists patrons with basic computer skills. Greets patrons as they enter the library. Assists patrons with basic circulation functions. Issues library cards. Answers phones. Reshelves library materials. Performs regular sweeps of the library to ensure clean and tidy work environment. (Study rooms whiteboards markers supplies furniture library materials etc. Takes requests for interlibrary loans. Assists patrons make copies. Handles cash accurately. Performs occasional data entry tasks. Assists with department projects.
One semester of college education and a grade of B or better in the subject area at the level of tutoring. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse users colleagues and faculty. Effective literacy communication and presentation skills. Customer service focus. Strong work ethic. Fluency in Spanish is a strength.
Compensation: $13/hr
Hours: 20 hrs/wk
