Applications are invited for multiple positions for faculty in Mathematics or Statistics within the College of Engineering and Science (COES) at Louisiana Tech University. The vision of the College of Engineering and Science at Louisiana Tech is to be a world leader in integrating engineering and science in education and research. The College has been experiencing significant growth in computational research initiatives through DoD and allied funding agencies. We are therefore undertaking an aggressive faculty recruiting campaign to enhance our overall teaching and research capacity. We are especially interested in candidates who want to join a faculty who are merging fundamental theory concepts and approaches with an eye to interdisciplinary collaboration. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in mathematics or statistics. Proven research potential outstanding teaching skills excellent written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to high quality student success are expected. Successful candidates will be expected to perform exceptional research procure external funding to support research advise graduate and undergraduate students collaborate with other faculty and teach effectively both at undergraduate and graduate levels. While all research areas of mathematics will be considered candidates with research ties in data science machine learning graph theory topology and analysis as well as cybersecurity should consider and highlight how their research will interplay with other disciplines in the college.
Louisiana Tech is designated as a national university by the U.S. News & World Report college rankings. The College of Engineering and Science currently enrolls over 3000 students including over 170 masters and 130 doctoral students. Annual research expenditures of the College have averaged $16M over the past three years. The College has recently opened a new $37M Integrated Engineering and Science Education Building that provides 128800 square feet of space to expand its focus on projectdriven and integrated curricula in mathematics engineering and science. COES launched the nations first B.S. in Cyber Engineering in 2012 and has grown its graduates in cyber engineering and related areas to support targeted research and development efforts in the region. Mathematics has been central to the curricular development as well as the increased research in this area.
