Job Description

The Jewett Center for Community Partnerships (JCCP) is the home of community engagement at Wesleyan University and is committed to preparing students for lifelong civic engagement. Guided by the principles of mutual respect and collective responsibility the JCCP focuses on developing and maintaining local partnerships with schools nonprofit organizations government agencies and the community at large through the Office of Community Engagement the Center for Prison Education and WESU/88.1FM.

Reporting to the Director of the Jewett Center for Community Partnerships (JCCP) the Assistant Director for Operations and Programming is responsible for oversight and support of cultivating student staff and faculty civic engagement opportunities contributing to the strategic vision of Wesleyans community engagement and supporting operations of the JCCP.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage student employee recruitment onboarding professional development and fiscal management
  • Develop and lead principles of community engagement training development and performance monitoring of student employees
  • Monitor fiscal activities of student employment commitments and conduct analyses to identify/report on fiscal status
  • Provide monthly financial reports of spending and balances to Directors and relevant staff
  • Oversee payroll submissions and associated budgets of student employees grant recipients and other student payments
  • Identify and support student employment opportunities on campus and within the local community
  • Maintain communication with and evaluation of student employment sites to shape future engagement
  • Provide data and narratives as necessary
  • Support student engagement and related programming initiatives including but not limited to; lecture/speaker series community engagement events recognition programs and other means.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This is an oncampus position.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree and at least 2 years direct or related experience working with community service or volunteer programs or an equivalent combination of education training and work experience (may include work or volunteer experience while a student) in a related field.

Previous accounting and budget management experience.

Excellent communication skills.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks effectively and simultaneously in a fastpaced environment.

Intermediate expertise with MS Word and Excel Outlook PowerPoint and database programs.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a range of people from diverse background.

Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact openly with individuals of different backgrounds.

Excellent and creative problem solving skills.

Proven ability to set goals and to develop strategies and timelines to complete projects and reach goals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

3 years experience running community service programs.
Prior Higher Ed experience.
