The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Sport Fish is recruiting for an Information Officer 2 located in Anchorage!

What you will be doing:
As the Division of Sport Fishs Region 2 Information Officer 2 based in Anchorage this position is responsible for coordinating Region 2 (Southcentral) information activities and disseminating regional sport fish management research hatchery and access programs information to the public. This includes developing educational materials participating in public outreach events and coordinating the regions social media presence. This position also supervises and assists at the Anchorage Sport Fish Information Center supervises one fulltime and three seasonal staff members and manages the Region 2 information and education budget.

To contribute to the Division successfully achieving these values the incumbent will:
Provide guidance direction and support in communicating with the public pertaining to research and management of recreational finfish and shellfish fisheries to ensure they are managed for sustainable use of wild stocks to provide for a diversity of fishing experience and to optimize social and economic benefits to the state.

Coordinate all sport fishery information activities within Region 2 work with six area management biologists and their staff to coordinate informational activities for eight management areas and participate and interact with the Division of Sport Fish Statewide Communications group and ADF&G Facebook teams.

The working environment you can expect:
The position is located at the Fish and Game building in Anchorage close to walking skiing and biking trails notably the Campbell Creek Greenbelt. You will work in an environment that is a collaboration of regional and area office staff in the Division of Sport Fish as well as staff with the Division of Commercial Fisheries and Division of Wildlife Conservation. Requires occasional travel within Alaska often day drips from Anchorage but also occasional overnights at a remote camp or onboard a vessel. Housing during travel may consist of bunkhouses vessels or tents. This position will occasionally be working outdoors often in inclement weather and while wading slippery cold streams or while traveling by boat. Work may involve occasional exposure to animals insects inclement weather or travel by boat or skiff.
