Duties and Responsibilities

(Note: ** Indicates Essential Functions)

  • **Assists the CIIHE Director and Principal Investigators with developing supporting analyzing and executing strategy and program initiatives for the Center for Indigenous Innovation and Health Equity (CIIHE).
  • **Independently oversees project administration grant management and fiscal operations for initiatives of significant complexity ensuring compliance and effective .
  • **Works closely with UH fiscal departments and community partners to manage contracts and agreements appropriately while coordinating with staff to ensure project deliverables are on track.
  • ** Maintains and organizes comprehensive databases for projects activities and contacts while overseeing data collection and managing efficient filing and documentation systems.
  • ** Compiles and prepares timely reports for funding agencies by gathering progress updates from subprograms and contractors developing detailed summary narratives and delivering quarterly status briefings.
  • **Builds and strengthens partnerships with organizations ensuring seamless communication and collaboration among all project stakeholders.
  • ** Organizes schedules and actively participates in meetings conferences and other events to effectively support project objectives and initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Professional Work Experience

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Management Public Administration Communications Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Studies Natural Health Sciences or a related field and 3 years of progressively responsible relevant project management experience or equivalent education/training or experience; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of project management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  • If applicable for supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.

Supplemental Minimum Qualifications

  • Able to handle sensitive situations and manage conflict effectively.
  • Excellent organization writing presentation and communication skills. Strong multitasking ability and capacity to keep up with a fastpaced and often relationshipdriven work environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing federal and state contracts grants and budgets in partnership with community organizations and programs.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience leading and implementing programming for communitybased initiatives.
  • Possess a valid drivers license which is required for travel.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations theories and/or systems associated with Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community health and indigenous practices.
  • Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community health and indigenous practices as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
  • Skilled communicator including with Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander community practitioners government agencies academic professionals and executivelevel leaders.
