Summary



Department of Public Health Seattle & King County is recruiting for an Educator Consultant I to join the Family Ways team. Family Ways supports pregnant persons parenting families and children up to age five. Services are provided to 3 specific focus communities: U.S. born Black/African American American Indian/Alaskan Native and the Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander communities. All services are culturally relevant participantcentered and strengthsbased. The Educator Consultant will work in a team environment and practice care coordinated with other disciplines. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing education and behaviorchange programs to partner with the Family Ways Peer Community Specialists. In this role you will work with the team to assess program needs monitor quality assurance and develop and promote culturally appropriate educational materials and information. The focus will be on developing trainings and materials to support the Peer Community Specialists as they partner with clients and families in creating care plans as well as provide direct service to a small caseload of families.

Team members will be upheld to Family Ways Guiding Principles: leading with racial equity respect participantcentered services with strengthbased practice collaborative decision making accountability and continuous improvement in their services and programming. Competitive candidates should have experience in working closely and collaboratively with individuals and families that are members of one or more of the 3 focus communities have experience with client interaction in a variety of settings (including home/field visits) and be comfortable accompanying participants and families to appointments. The Educator Consultant will report to and collaborate with the Family Ways CoLeads.

Applicants should demonstrate experience in teaching and coaching collaboration with others and strong communication skills that are inclusive and inviting especially in difficult situations. Competitive candidates will need to have experience in and the ability to participate in and assist with continuous improvement efforts. This position is situated in the Community Health Services Division in the Parent Child Health Program. Staff will report to work at county public health clinics as their work locations. It is preferred that candidates have direct knowledge and/or lived experience working in at least one of these communities: U.S born Black/African American American Indian/Alaskan Native and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander communities. The schedule for this position is MondayFriday 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.This position is FLSA nonexempt and is overtime eligible.


Work Location

With travel to various public health clinics throughout King County.

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Some of the work associated with this position will be performed through teleworking and will report to office location and to meetings as needed. Travel to other work locations may be necessary. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. To support employees during this time King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely.   • Expertise in parenting child development pregnancy and postpartum educational materials and passion for creating culturally relevant trainings and materials.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability engaging authentically with program participants and families.
  • Experience working with communities to build partnerships and gain understanding of unique community needs.
  • Experience as Community Health Worker Navigator or Community Organizer.
  • Knowledge of equity and social justice principles and practices.
  • Experience in leading continuous quality improvement activities in alignment with program goals/objectives.
  • Experience providing culturally relevant parenting child development pregnancy/postpartum and/or resource navigation training to a diverse team of community health workers navigators or community organizers.
  • It is desired or preferred that candidates have direct knowledge and/or lived experience working in at least one of these communities: U.S born Black/African American the American Indian/Alaskan Native and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander communities.
