IMMEDIATE VACANICES:

Plans directs and administers a County housing division which provides affordable housing services to qualified families and/or individuals that meet the applicable income requirements; develops and implements long range plans to address the affordable housing needs of the community; and performs other related duties as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This class is distinguished by its responsibility as a division head to administer a County affordable housing program which provides a variety of federal state or county affordable housing services to qualified families and/or individuals who meet the applicable income requirements as well as to oversee the review analysis and evaluation of agreements and applications related to the Countys affordable housing requirements.

Training and Experience: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in business or public administration economics or a related field and six years of experience in housing or property management or development which shall have included feasibility analysis real estate transaction and appraisals two of which shall have been in an administrative capacity including or supplemented by one year of experience in the preparation and/or review of housing development plans.
License Requirement: Possession of a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Hawaii (equivalent to Hawaii Type 3.
Knowledge of: principles and practices of administration; federal state and county housing development and urban renewal laws ordinances rules and regulations; federal HOME Investment Partnership Program and Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program; rules regulations documents legal forms techniques and methods used in real estate transactions.
Ability to: plan and administer an affordable housing program; interpret laws rules and regulations; present oral and written reports; analyze and evaluate statistical data and reports; maintain effective working relationships with others and the public.

Physical Effort Grouping: Light
This position is located in the Housing & Community Development Division (HCD) and is responsible for directing the activities of the Housing & Community Development Division which supports efforts to create affordable housing for Maui County residents. This includes managing partnerships with stakeholders in the development of affordable housing on public or private land overseeing the development of housing projects using County land coordinating with Project proponents and directing project proposals under Chapter 201H Hawaii Revised Statutes 201H) Chapter 2.97 Maui County Code (MCC) and Chapter 16.28 MCC.
EXAMINATIONS ARE ADMINISTERED IN THE COUNTY OF MAUl ONLY
The above examination is being given on an opencompetitive basis to establish an eligible list which shall be effective for not more than one year unless extended by the Director of Personnel Services.

There is no retesting or reevaluation process. Cost for the drug screening test shall be borne by the County of Maui.
