Position Number:101510Position Title (Classification Title):Assistant Professor 101510Working Title:Computational Environmental ScienceJob Summary:The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of West Florida (UWF) in Pensacola Florida invites applications for a fulltime tenuretrack Assistant Professor position specializing in Computational Environmental Science. We are seeking a teacherscholar whose research aligns with one or more of the following areas: environmental hazards sustainable energy environmental toxicology fluvial systems soil science and/or ecological conservation. This is a 9month faculty position with an expected start date of the August 8 2025.

The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester (fall and spring) supporting both undergraduate and graduate programs through studentcentered courses in environmental and earth sciences. The candidate will also contribute to curriculum development with innovative and current approaches in their area of expertise. Furthermore the candidate is expected to establish and maintain an active and productive research program in computational environmental science regularly disseminating findings through peerreviewed publications and actively pursuing external funding and competitive grants to support their research. The successful candidate will mentor undergraduate and M.S. students integrating them into research projects and collaborate with faculty within the department and across the University of West Florida. Additionally the candidate will engage in a variety of service roles that support the department and align with the universitys mission.DepartmentEarth & Environmental SciencesFLSA:ExemptMinimum Qualifications:A Ph.D. in Environmental Science Geography Geology Oceanography or closely related field from an accredited institution by the start date of appointment. Demonstrated specialization in computational approaches to environmental science. Ability to teach both introductory and specialized courses in Environmental Science or Earth Science.Position Qualifications:The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Environmental Science Geography Geology Oceanography or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the appointment start date. A demonstrated specialization in computational approaches to environmental science is required. Additionally the candidate must show ability in teaching both introductory and specialized courses in Environmental Science or Earth Science.Preferred QualificationsMentoring of students at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
A track record of securing or pursuing competitive research grants.
