Job Description:

The University of Florida seeks an Assistant Research Scientist 12month nontenure track faculty appointment in the School of Special Education School Psychology and Early Childhood Studies) to work closely with center and project investigators to advance new and ongoing research enterprises within the mission and vision of a relatively new center UF Prevention and Intervention Network (PIN). The Assistant Research Scientist is expected to play an integral role in current extramural awards primarily including Project Thrive while collaborating with center investigators and affiliated faculty/staff to build a portfolio of independent and collaborative research and technical assistance.

PIN is an interdisciplinary center of faculty staff and students dedicated to promoting healthy development and wellbeing for youth through leading research in prevention science. PIN connects multidisciplinary translational research in prevention and intervention science at a premier research institution making a strong collective impact on our communities and society. Our guiding vision is to be a primary reliable resource for prevention and intervention science as it relates to children and youths social physical mental and educational wellbeing. PINs mission and vision is executed across three focus areas: Research Training and Engagement. We seek a colleague and collaborator to join with us in growing PINs impact in these ways. The Assistant Research Scientist position will entail two primary responsibilities. First towards advancing their own portfolio of extramurallyfunded research and enterprise development in collaboration with PIN investigators affiliated faculty staff and students. Second as a coinvestigator on Project Thrive the Assistant Research Scientist is expected to manage evaluation and data collection activities assigned in coordination with project investigators project staff and site staff; provide professional development training coaching and/or technical assistance to school and/or district partners as needed; and assist PIs and project staff to review formative evaluation results regularly to suggest enhancements and support installation.

Expected Salary:

Salary is negotiable competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:
  • An earned doctorate in education psychology health behavior or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills ability and experience authoring scientific journal publications and/or technical reports.
  • Pre and/or postdoctoral experience in extramurally funded research focused on K12 education prevention and/or intervention.
  • Capacity to contribute to the design of research projects and writing of research proposals.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience with research funded by a diverse variety of research partners including government groups industry sponsors and/or nonprofit organizations.
  • Interest ability and experience in design and of collaborative multidisciplinary research.
  • 23 years of project management and/or evaluation experience with extramural awards.
  • Experience delegating to coordinating and supervising the work of research coordinators and assistants on extramural awards.
  • Experience with research development and management in K12 schools.
  • Experience creating processes and workflows for managing high work volumes.
  • Experience with or knowledge of extramural research funding processes at pre and postaward within the institution.
  • Ability to be calm creative flexible and prudent in ambiguous and challenging circumstances.
  • Ability to monitor activities of multiple projects simultaneously.
