Job Description
Amazon Robotics is building new automation systems which will transform warehouse operations. The team is seeking a talented and motivated System Development Engineer to design and develop controls for the integration of robotics systems and industrial automation equipment.
The System Development Engineer will be responsible for designing developing integrating troubleshooting and optimizing various automation solutions while acting as an integration resource for our internal product development teams and on behalf of our global Amazon customers.
Key job responsibilities
Design simplify and continuously improve system controls architecture including machine control code networking electrical design and safety design
Develop controls code utilizing structured text and ladderlogic on CodeSys and Studio 5000 platforms
Identify and implement system optimizations
Contribute to value engineering of the systems electrical and controls hardware components
50 travel expected to support onsite system testing

5 years of systems design software development operations automation and process improvement experience
5 years of control system working experience in PLCbased controls design development implementation and support
5 years machine control code development experience with practical experience in structured text and/or ladderlogic
Experience with AllenBradley PLCs Siemens PLC and Soft PLCs/IPCs
Experience deploying and supporting industrial automation products at scale
Experience utilizing software development best practices for code management and code reviews
Knowledge of engineering practices for software/hardware/network development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes certification and live site operational testing
Experience developing controls code utilizing Codesys platform
Experience with industrial automation and controls system design
Experience with TCP/IP and industrial networks
Experience with industrial automation safety design
Embedded programming experience with C/C Java Python or similar languages
Experience with HMI design and development
Ability to recognize and implement improvements to the human aspects of systems development implementation and use
