Duties
Supervise instruct and monitor individuals ordered to perform community restitution (work crew/community service) to include safely operating state vehicles and maintaining worker safety.
- Transport supervised individuals to and from work site via a state vehicle.
- Monitor supervised individual activities and movement through visual observation of work site.
- Maintain worker safety and provide rules and safety orientation to work crew participants.
- Issue and account for all equipment tools safety and weather gear used by work crew.
- Use appropriate deescalation skills during stressful and potentially dangerous situations.
- Serve as a positive and motivating role model to work crew participants.
- Communicate and work collaboratively with stakeholders and contractors to achieve desired project outcomes.
- Conduct inspections and searches of supervised individuals and their property if reasonable suspicion exists.

Required Qualifications
- One year of experience as a Corrections and Custody Officer with the WA State Department of Corrections (DOC) which includes the successful completion of the Correctional Officer training plan.
- And must possess and maintain a vehicle operators license valid in the State of Washington.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two years of experience in law enforcement security corrections/community corrections (probation/parole) or other related criminal justice position where the position requires security functions and/or regular contact with individuals suspected or convicted of crimes.
- And must possess and maintain a vehicle operators license valid in the State of Washington.
- Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check.
- Complete and pass the psychological screening (Battery Exam and Psychological Interview/Evaluation).
- Submit to drug testing in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement and agency policy.
- Successfully complete within mandated timeframes employee orientation and all other mandatory annual inservice and other required training.
- Become familiar and comply with all department policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable.
