JOB POSTING
JOB TITLE:EDM Machinist Toolmaker III
DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing
REPORTS TO: Director of Manufacturing
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Electrical discharge machine (EDM) operator / programmer will be responsible for programming to run wired EDM machines as well as setting up and operating these units. The programmer works from blueprints and process sheets to determine the correct settings for units and also perform scheduled maintenance duties including tool sharpening and machine cleaning.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
EDM operator / programmer must have good vision for this position including peripheral vision and depth perception and mathematical skills communication skills and the ability to read micrometers gauges and probes. They must always be safetyconscious and familiar with all industry safety protocols and procedures including standard environmental hazards health and conservation guidelines. EDM operator/programmer must have basic computer skills and file format manipulation experience and the skills to run Feature Cam software applications are also helpful. They will work with toolmakers and designers to establish proper manufacturing methods and also inspect finished work pieces to ensure compliance with accepted manufacturing tolerances. They should also be able to measure mark and scribe dimensions and reference points on work material for future production as well as monitor machines during production runs to adjust machine controls and prevent errors. They must have a personal set of tools to perform their duties and must be able to lift up to 25 pounds as well as occasionally move 50 to 100 pounds with the assistance of another worker.

Determine program requirements based on design and engineering requirements.
Ensure that precision machinery is in working condition and properly calibrated.
Operate precision machinery as needed.
Write or edit programs for precision machinery.
