Job Description

The Department of Automotive Engineering at Clemson University invites applications for a fulltime postdoctoral fellow position in the areas of hybrid additive manufacturing and crystal plasticity finite element modeling. The fellow will work under the mentorship of Dr. Shunyu Liu This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in collaborative funded research projects. This position offers professional growth through support for attending national conferences to present findings. Additionally based on the fellows research interests they will receive training in proposal development and gain experience leading independent research projects.

This fulltime postdoctoral fellowship is a 12 year position contingent on the start date and the fellows performance. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Developing a thermalmechanicalmetallurgical simulation framework for insitu rolled additive manufacturing with a focus on the microrolling process; some microstructural characterization will be involved.
  2. Publishing at least one firstauthor journal article per year ensuring the highest standards of research quality and academic integrity.
  3. Supervising Ph.D. students working on related projects.
  4. Participating in research meetings and preparing timely monthly and annual project reports.
  5. Performing other tasks as necessary to achieve project objectives.
