The company is looking for a top candidate to fill the role of Indirect Tax Manager North America. This is a new position and the candidate will need to be comfortable working to create new processes and resolve legacy issues arising from multiple entities being consolidated under common ownership in recent years. A successful candidate will also possess the skills and attitude to grow into a broader tax and compliance role within the company.

- Create oversee and monitor the indirect tax processes and compliance for the US including sales & use property tax and franchise taxes.
- Ensure the companys multiple businesses and entities are properly registered and in good standing in all states where we are required to remit indirect taxes.
- Monitor indirect tax legislative changes and communicate those changes to key stakeholders ensuring compliance.
- Own the functionality of our Avalara and TaxJar software products ensuring proper connections with and remittance to individual states.
- Responsible for maintaining detailed account reconciliations of filings and relevant general ledger accounts.
- Advise senior management on opportunities to optimize indirect tax strategies.
- Assist General Counsel on other staterelated compliance matters.
THE PERSON
Skills and Requirements:
- Proven Tax Manager with 5 years of experience in a business environment of similar size and complexity (or a large accounting firm).
- Expert knowledge of US Sales and Use Tax is required. Familiarity with franchise property and European VAT taxes is desirable.
- Experience with Avalara TaxJar or similar software tools is required.
- Candidate should possess strong accounting knowledge and have the ability to reconcile standard general ledger accounts.
- Ability to translate indirect tax rules into business requirements and accounting needs.
- Candidate should be an effective communicator analytical thinker and creative problem solver.
- Experience and confidence to create and implement systems and processes that may not have previously existed.
