Position Overview

Under administrative direction supervises a staff of examiners responsible for the examination of Mortgage Banking licensees and student loan processors. Directs the functions of field examiners conducting examinations. Reviews analyzes and checks examination reports for content and to assure that all exceptions and violations have been accurately recorded by the field examiners. Submits requests to the Mortgage Banking Director for special examinations. Supervises multistate examinations as organized by the CSBS. Directs the scope of examination for examiners. Provides legal counsel and guidance to the staff. Develops initiates and revises systems procedures and methods of examinations. Travels to various sites for examinations and meetings.

  • Serves as full line supervisor.
  • Monitors examinations and discusses results of the examination of Mortgage Banking licensees and student loan processors with examiners.
  • Provides legal counsel and technical direction to examiners in the accurate identifications of statutory violations.
  • Supervises multistate examinations as organized by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS).
  • Develops initiates and revises systems procedures and methods of Mortgage Banking and student loan processor examinations to be used by the Sections staff.
  • Develops conducts and maintains an adequate examiner training program including onthejob training.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires law degree and possession of a license to practice law in Illinois.
  • Requires three years progressively responsible administrative experience in law.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least three years of experience in financial law.
  • Prefers at least two years of experience in regulatory law.
  • Prefers at least three years of experience as a financial examiner/auditor or three years of experience as a supervisor of financial examiners/auditors.
