Summary of Job Duties:

The Associate Director of the Community Literacies Collaboratory the Brown Chairs signature program will support coordination of events (e.g. lectures workshops biannual symposium) including booking venues and catering; coordination of the annual CLC grants program including organizing applications for review by the selection committee followup correspondence with grant applicants and facilitating the endofgrant report process of past grantees; serving as liaison with community partners including teachers librarians and literacy councils; support activities for the publication of The Sandbox the peerreviewed journal of the Brown Chair and CLC; serve as direct supervisor to Web Designer and graduate assistant who manage social media curate a monthly newsletter and generate news reports on the work of the Brown Chair and CLC. The position also requires funded travel to attend 12 annual conferences (ex. National Council of Teachers of English American Library Association Conference on College Composition and Communication American Education Research Association Association of Writers and Writing Programs etc. to promote the resources of the Brown Chair and CLC and opportunities for collaboration on its programs as an official exhibitor and/or presenter on the conference program.

Duties also include completing fiscal processes for the Brown Chair and CLC under the supervision of the Brown Chair in coordination with the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. Fiscal processes include but are not limited to supporting and assisting with accounts payable purchasing travel capital projects budget checks financial reports and annual audits. The position also requires one to perform analysis supporting selection of suppliers goods and processes and provide information to the Office of Gift and Grant Administration to assist with the preparation of budgets and reporting.

These duties will all be performed with additional support from a dedicated Web Designer; the administrative staff of the Department of English and two graduate assistants. Other graduate/undergraduate support (e.g. hourly extra help interns) can be hired for additional support as programs require with the approval of the Brown Chair . Duties also include completing fiscal processes for the Brown Chair and CLC under the supervision of the Brown Chair and in coordination with the Chair of the Department of English and Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

Regular reliable and nondisruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution of higher education

AND

  • At least two years of experience in accounting general business program management or a related field

OR

  • At least six years of experience with progressive responsibilities in accounting general business program management or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree or higher from an accredited college/university

  • At least two years of experience working with literacy programs libraries English education or related areas.

  • Fluency in Spanish or Ebon (Marshallese Language)

  • Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the intersections of literacy and cultural practices as well as communitybased programs.

  • Experience with Canva and WordPress

  • Experience with Workday accounting system

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge and experience in areas of bookkeeping/accounting organizational budgeting and report preparation

  • Skilled in Microsoft program suite

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong project management skills


Additional Information:


This is a 3year appointment renewable based on the need for the position availability of funding and continued satisfactory level of performance in the role.
