PartTime Lecturer Pool
POSITION
The Department of Geological Sciences at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its PartTime Lecturer Pool.
We welcome applications from experienced studentcentered individuals to teach in any areas of Geological Sciences.
This is a pool of parttime lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.
APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PARTTIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- An advanced degree (i.e. Masters or ADB PhD EdD) in Geology or a related field.
- Candidates should have prior teaching experience at the university level.
- Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students including firstgeneration college students
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Preference will be given to those with significant teaching experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative supportive and inclusive environment.
- Preference will also be given to those with relevant performance and professional experience.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE AND THE DEPARTMENT
The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM) is one of eight colleges at CSUF and contains five departments. The college offers through its departments and programs baccalaureate degrees in all disciplines and masters degrees in biological science chemistry geology physics and mathematics.
The Department of Geological Sciences offer two undergraduate degrees B.S. in Geology and B.A. in Earth Science an M.S. in Geology and a minor in Geology. Nearly all of our courses include highimpact field and/or lab learning environments with ample opportunity for original student research. Both our B.S. and M.S. in Geology require an intensive thesis. Our B.A. in Earth Science is designed to offer maximum flexibility to enable students to choose a set of courses that align with their academic and career goals. As our wellestablished alumni could attest C.S.U.F. geology graduates continue to be highly soughtafter by both employers and grad schools.

APPOINTMENT DATE AND ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The need for parttime faculty is greatest in Fall and Spring semesters. The Fall term begins in the late August and ends in midDecember; the Spring term runs from the middle of January through the end of May. On rare occasions parttime faculty are needed during one of the Summer Session segments.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
All parttime faculty appointments are made as Lecturers under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only.
Classification Range: $5007 $6359 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications not to exceed $5925 per month
The fulltime 15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. For a threeunit assignment typical starting compensation ranges from $6008.40 to $7110 per semester.

Regular performance evaluations of parttime lecturers are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which lecturers will be retained for future and continued teaching assignments. And in some instances syllabi assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.

Faculty rehired at CSUF after a break in service of 12 or more months who have not had a CSUF background check within the past 12 months will be subject to a new background check; rehire is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the new background check
